Delaware to Host Marijuana-Related Comedy Game Show

DE Cannabis

Delaware will be hosting a marijuana-related game show that will include 16 comedians, and all will have used marijuana except one. The name of the show is “Weeding Out the Stoned.” The idea of the game show is to determine who the sober participant is.

When the audience thinks they know who the sober contestant is, they’re to shout “Narc,” according to Delaware Online.  Sobriety tests will be given to each participant that include general sobriety tests, word games and audience participation tasks. Alex Grubard will play the show’s police officer.

What’s the point of the game show? To determine if you really can pick out someone that has used marijuana as opposed to someone who hasn’t. If the audience correctly identifies the sober participant and eliminates the 15 comedians that did consume marijuana, every member of the audience gets a prize.

Now, the show does take place in Philadelphia. However, its debut is being handled out of state – in Delaware. It’s harder to tell who’s stoned and who’s not than some might think.

Grubard said, “They are so bad at it. We had a show Wednesday and it was the second time they got it right out of like 20 or 25 shows. It kind of proves the point you want to make if you’re a stoner.”

A few of the comedians will be from the Philadelphia but most of them will be from Delaware. Bootless Stageworks will host the first show at 8:30 p.m. on Friday 17.

Alejandro Morales, host of “Eat Your Beats” said, “These concept shows aren’t just stand-up, sketch or improv – they are really unpredictable. It creates an experience that is comedy, but not in a way that people are used to.”

Marijuana is decriminalized in Delaware. Some expect marijuana-themed television shows to increase.

Delaware NORML representative, Cynthia Ferguson said, “We are definitely seeing more and more interest and we’ve made it a mission this year to provide more entertainment.”

Grubard also commented that, “We want to start testing the waters and do it outside of Philadelphia. Since I’ve been in Delaware before and have good comedy connections here, we decided to do it in Delaware first.”
