Sussex County Medical Marijuana Dispensary Opening in March

Sussex Compassion Center is slated to open in March. It will be operated by First State Compassion Center. Patients wishing to visit the dispensary should begin the process to obtain necessary recommendations now, as it can be a process in the state.

The exact address of the dispensary has not been provided, according to Delaware 105.9. The only information given about the location is that it will be near Lewes.

In regards to the process for patients to obtain a medical marijuana card, Zoe Patchell of the Cannabis Bureau of Delaware said, “It’s a bit of a process, they have to see their primary care physician who writes a recommendation, from there the department of health decides whether or not that patient is eligible for a medical cannabis card.”

In regards to medical marijuana recommendations, Patchell said, “It’s not a prescription it’s just a recommendation. We are hearing that there are many doctors that are a little hesitant in even speaking to their patients about medical cannabis, even though there’s quite an abundance of research that shows that medical cannabis has a variety of benefits.”

As it gets closer to opening day, the exact address of the Sussex Compassion Center will be made public.
