Some Canadian Colleges to Allow Marijuana On Campus

University Marijuana

In Canada, adults ages 19 and older will be able to legally purchase, possess and use marijuana when the country legalizes recreational marijuana this October. While some universities and colleges throughout the country will have strict bans on marijuana on campus, others are open to allowing some forms of marijuana.

Some universities in Nova Scotia, Alberta and British Columbia are expected to permit limited marijuana possession and consumption on campus, according to Forbes. These universities are expected to designate specific smoking areas on campus where marijuana use will be allowed. Meanwhile, the University of Kingston will ban the smoking of marijuana on campus but is considering allowing edibles.

Some universities plan to call the police for marijuana possession and use on campus, but if students are in possession of 30 grams or less and aren’t violating any other laws, then the police aren’t likely to take any action.
